Custom Design Policy

At Chaotic Gear, every custom collar is made to order and designed specifically for your dog. Because we offer both Vinyl and UV Printed customization, it’s important to understand the differences between the two methods before placing your order.

Vinyl Designs

Vinyl is best for:

  • Names
  • Simple text
  • Basic graphics
  • 1–3 color designs
  • Clean, bold customization

Vinyl designs are hand-applied and work best on simpler layouts with solid colors.

Vinyl Notes

  • Small details may be limited depending on collar width and design space
  • Extremely intricate artwork may not be possible in vinyl
  • Vinyl colors may appear slightly different depending on screen settings
  • Wear over time can happen with heavy scratching, rough play, or improper care

Vinyl Care

  • Hand wash only
  • Avoid harsh chemicals
  • Do not scrub directly on vinyl
  • Air dry recommended

UV Printed Designs

UV Printing allows for:

  • Detailed artwork
  • Gradients
  • Multi-color graphics
  • Photorealistic or intricate themes
  • Full printed patterns

UV printing is ideal for artwork that cannot be achieved with standard vinyl.

Important UV Print Information

  • No white/color printing onto black Biothane®
    • Black-on-black designs ARE possible
  • Solid black printed backgrounds are not recommended
  • Some Biothane® colors print better than others
  • Final print quality depends heavily on the artwork file provided
  • Low-quality images may not print clearly

When Submitting UV Design Ideas

Please provide as much detail as possible:

  • Colors you want (and do NOT want)
  • Theme/style inspiration
  • Realistic vs cartoon artwork
  • Font styles
  • Example photos or sketches if available

The more information provided, the better we can match your vision.

UV Print Turnaround

UV printed items typically require:

  • 2–3 week turnaround after design approval

Design Space Limitations

Design space changes depending on:

  • Collar width
  • Collar size
  • Layered vs flat construction
  • Hardware placement

Example:
A 10" collar has significantly less printable/design space than a 20" collar.

Large names, long phrases, or detailed artwork may need:

  • Larger collar sizes
  • Wider collars
  • Simplified layouts

We reserve the right to adjust sizing, layout, or font placement to ensure the best final product.

Layered Collar Limitations

Some layered collar sizes may not be available on smaller neck sizes.

Example:

  • 1.5” on 2” layered collars generally cannot be made for very small neck sizes due to structure and hardware limitations.

If a selected option is not safely possible, we will contact you with alternatives.

Durability & Customization Guarantee

We stand behind our craftsmanship and materials.

Covered

  • Hardware failure under normal use
  • Rivet or structural craftsmanship defects
  • Manufacturing defects

Not Covered

  • Chewing damage
  • Improper sizing submitted by customer
  • Normal cosmetic wear
  • Scratching or abrasion damage
  • Damage from chemicals or improper cleaning
  • Excessive friction from rough play or crates

Because custom items are made specifically for your order:

  • Custom orders are final sale
  • Refunds are not offered on approved custom designs

Communication Policy

Custom orders require communication.

By placing a custom order, you agree to:

  • Monitor your email for mockups/questions
  • Respond in a timely manner
  • Approve final designs before production

Delays in communication may delay production timelines.
